Celebrex 200mg capsule contains the active ingredient Celecoxib. It belongs to the family known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and specifically a sub-group known as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors. It is used in adults for the relief of signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. In conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, excess production of prostaglandins by your body can lead to pain and inflammation. This medicine works by decreasing the production of prostaglandins, effectively reducing pain and inflammation.
Do not take Celebrex 200mg capsule if you are allergic to Celecoxib or any of its ingredients. Inform your doctor if you had reactions to sulfonamide medicines, suffer from ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines, or experienced adverse reactions to NSAID medications like aspirin. Report your doctor if you have conditions such as smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, compromised heart, liver, or kidney function, fluid retention, dehydration, past severe allergic reactions to medications, ongoing infections, or are over 65 years old. This month, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) seizeights shipments of Celebrex from seven African nations, including South Africa.
In an exclusive press call with The Associated Press, Celebrex was the subject of an explosive letter sent to the American public, detailing its safety and efficacy for certain patients.
The letter, written in June, detailed how the FDA has approved Celebrex for the pain and inflammation caused by, a type of arthritis that affects the body’s own tissues.
“Celebrex has been a lifesaver for millions of people struggling with arthritis,” FDA Commissioner Margaret Atulley said in a July 20, 2023, interview with.
The letter also discussed Celebrex’s role in reducing inflammation in the body, and the potential benefits it would have for patients with, a condition in which joint inflammation leads to stiffness and pain. The FDA has granted Celebrex a 180-day supply, and Atulley has designated the company as one of the agency’s “safest and most effective” drugs for the treatment of this condition.
In its Sept. 20, 2023, FDA release, Celebrex stated that it “has been approved for the treatment of various types of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and acute painful conditions.”
The Aug. 22, 2023, FDA release also noted that Celebrex “may help to alleviate some of the signs and symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis, including fever, joint stiffness, and sore throat,” but that it “can’t be used to treat any other conditions.”
The release also listed other prescription Celebrex options as well as Celebrex-approved medications and herbal supplements. The FDA released a letter with a list of Celebrex-approved Celebrex products as well as with the products’ names and addresses.
FDA spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the company’s “primary focus is pain management.”
“We’ve had people ask, ‘Are there any things that I can do to ease the pain?'” she said in an interview.
She added that the company is “not recommending or threatening any particular patient for Celebrex.”
In its Oct. 30, 2023 letter, FDA stated that Celebrex “did not treat any other serious form of pain or inflammation.”
On Oct. 6, 2023, FDA noted that the company is “reviewing the results of a study showing that celecoxib is as effective as other similar pain relief medications for reducing pain, inflammation, and fever.”
The agency also stated that it is reviewing other similar studies, as well as prescribing the medication for patients with osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing cramp, pain in the back and neck, and menstrual cramps.
The company also stated that it is “reviewing the safety data for celecoxib to confirm its effectiveness in reducing pain.”
The letter also noted that the FDA has not approved Celebrex for treating other serious conditions, including:
FDA granted approval to manufacture, distribute, and sell Celebrex in the United States on July 18, 2023, for use as a nonprescription pain reliever/fever reducer. In the US market, Celebrex is available for shipment by express.
The capsules are manufactured by Abbott Laboratories, Abbott’s global pharmaceutical company. The company has facilities in over 100 countries and is the largest manufacturer of prescription medications in the world.
